Major: Journalism—Strategic Communications
Leadership positions and organizations involved in:
- Student Ambassador for the Career and Leadership Development Center
- Vice President of the Taekwondo Club and I am also of The Bridge, a church group for college students at OU
Biggest accomplishment as a student leader:
Becoming a Student Ambassador for the CLDC. This opportunity has allowed me to lead others by example and share information on leadership and professional development with students on campus. It has taught me a lot about not only myself, but also what it takes to be a successful leader.
Best memory at OHIO:
My best memory at OU so far has been the first day of school freshman year, that was just such an exciting moment. I was so excited to start my journey at OU and to this day I am still ecstatic to be here!
My biggest quirk is that I read a book instead of texting or checking my phone before classes in an effort of hopefully be known one day as a bookworm.
Role model and why:
My biggest role model is my older brother! I love that guy! He’s been a leader and a role model for me all of my life. He has always encouraged me to do my best and grow in my faith along with always pushing me become a better person. I’m truly blessed to have a brother like him!
What makes a leader?
Leaders aren’t always born they can be made so I think what makes a leader is persistence and the willingness to learn and by doing that you will set an example for those to follow
It is more of a poem but to me these are words to live by…
“People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.”
